Features of 2D to 3D Image

Give flat artwork a sense of volume. A reference drawing supplies the subject and composition; a 3D-style treatment explores rounded forms, surface materials and light. The result is an image you can review and download.

Give flat artwork depth

Start with a character, an object illustration or a simple scene. Explore how rounded shapes, highlights and cast shadows change its appearance. Clear outlines and an uncluttered background give the reference a stronger starting point; review the result for changes to proportions or details.

Choose a material and lighting direction

Use Other ideas to describe a look such as “matte clay,” “soft fabric with wooden legs” or “glossy plastic under studio lighting.” Extra instructions are optional. Describe the colors and details you want to keep as well as the surfaces you want to explore.

Frame the render for your project

Choose 1:1 for a square character or object image, 2:3 for a vertical composition, or 3:2 for a wide scene. The selected ratio guides the output shape. Leave room around the subject in your reference, since the generated framing can differ.

Who can use 2D to 3D Image?

Find a starting point that fits what you want to make.

Illustrators and character designers

Explore how a flat mascot or character might look with rounded forms and a clay, toy or other material treatment. Check that distinctive colors and features still communicate your original idea.

Product and brand designers

Use an object illustration to discuss surface, lighting and presentation ideas for a concept board. Inspect the result before using it in a presentation, especially if it could be mistaken for an existing product.

Game and scene concept artists

Explore a dimensional visual direction for a prop, small building or environment illustration. Use the image as a concept reference for a separate modeling workflow, rather than as finished game geometry.

Content and presentation creators

Try a 3D-style visual for a slide, post or creative project. Choose a shape that suits your layout, then review the final image before adding text or sharing it.

Frequently asked questions about 2D to 3D Image

What kind of 2D image works best?

Start with a clear illustration, character or object drawing with visible shapes and an uncluttered composition. Use JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB. A reference image is required, and you can choose a file, drag it in or paste a copied image.

Do I need to write material or lighting instructions?

No. Other ideas is optional; leaving it empty uses the default dimensional 3D-style interpretation. Add a direction such as matte clay, fabric, wood or soft studio lighting when a particular appearance matters. Exact shapes, colors and text may change, so compare the result with your reference.

Does this create an editable 3D model or a 3D printing file?

No. It creates a two-dimensional raster image with a 3D-style appearance. It does not produce mesh geometry, CAD data, animation rigging or a printable object file. Use a separate 3D modeling workflow if you need editable geometry or accurate dimensions.

Is this tool available to generate images now?

Choose your settings, then select Generate image. Use the displayed guest allowance for a public result, or sign in to generate with account credits.

How many credits does one task cost?

Guests receive 1 free public generation per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Signed-in tasks cost 5 credits; review your balance before submitting. Credits are reserved during processing and settled on success.

What does Private gallery control?

Guests generate public results. Log in to enable Private gallery, which defaults to on for signed-in users. Turning it off allows the completed image to appear publicly. Reference uploads and prompts remain private. Signed-in users can change visibility for their own tasks in My creations.

What should I do if a task fails or its outcome is unclear?

A verified failure releases reserved credits. An unknown or unconfirmed outcome keeps the reservation while the status is checked. Refresh that task’s status instead of assuming failure or starting another purchase or generation to bypass it.
